Czech-Slovakian-Polish Music Bike Trip

Czech-Slovakian-Polish Music Bike Trip

On April 23, 2011 Prague artist and composer Jan Repka will head on his first long-term bike concert trip. The itinerary runs through three countries and counts more than 1500 km. Repka will give more than 20 concerts.

The musician will visit the cities situated on the Greenways, such as Wroclaw and Opole on Odra Trail, Krakow and Lanckorona on Amber Trail.

All the musical equipment will be placed on Jan’s specially prepared extended (!) bike.

“The bicycle specially modified will enable me to carry a guitar, an amplifier, a CD-box and a sleeping bag , said Jan smiling. – I have never thought that I could link my two biggest passions – music and travel in such a natural way”.

“It is true that a bicycle in the slowest means on transportation, but on the other side it allows direct contact with people of the places I’m going through. During the trip I plan to give concerts and invite local artists, musicians and singers for cooperation. I believe that it’s ll be a success. On my trip I’ll have a plenty of roads to choose”, says young musician.

In his creations, Jan Repka refers to the Czech musical wave on the 70-ies and 80-ies (Nohavica, Merta). In 2001 he sang in duo Nestihame, which he called “Simon and Garfunkel from the Czech Republic”.  Together with Piotr Ovsenak he released two albums under this name, and obtained many prizes. In 2010, Jan Repka put out his personal album “Čistý byl svět” and started the first bike concert trips (Czech Reublic, Austria, Swiss).

During this trip the musician will give 6 concerts: in Wrocław (Klub pod Kolumnami, 27.04), Chorzow (Rebel Garden, 1.05), Lanckorona (Cafe Pensjonat 3.05), Krakow (Kombinator, 4.05; Lokator, 5.05) i Nowy Sącz (Kawiarnia Prowincjonalna, 7.05).

Beside his own concerts, Jan Repka will organize a cycle of sung poetry evenings under the name “Open Mic POTRVA (Praga)”. In the course on three years more than 170 singers and poets participated in them.
