The Amber Trail Greenways is an international trail leading through Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, following the ancient route, which transported amber from the Baltic to the Adriatic Sea. Today, traveling the Amber Trail, you can admire the famous historical city and a lot of objects on the UNESCO World Heritage Site (including Budapest, Banska Štiavnica, Cracow), and picturesque rural areas with high natural and cultural values. The trail connects people and places of the rich and diverse cultural traditions, handicrafts and cuisine.
In Poland, the trail is already marked on the stretch from the border with Slovakia to Niepołomice near Krakow. The Local Action Groups are working intensively on marking and adaptation the rest of the trail to the tourist needs . We are looking forward to marking the new - Lublin segment of Amber Trail Greenways - and the rich tourist offer to be built on the site.
The national coordinator of the Amber Trail Greenways is the Environmental Partnership Foundation, which together with the local coordinators along the trail develop sustainable tourism.
Greenways are multifunctional trails for non-motorized users leading along the corridors of natural, historical and trade routes, rivers and railways. They are managed by local communities in order to stimulate sustainable development and promotion of healthy lifestyles. Greenways provide a framework for community-based initiatives and projects related to nature conservation, cultural heritage preservation, tourism, environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation. Greenways respond to the needs of both residents and visitors and make a positive contribution to the local economy.
