We hope that this publication will be an inspiration to travel on bike along the natural and cultural heritage trail in Poland, leading from the border with Slovakia through Krakow, and farther alonf the Vistula River Valley up to the Baltic Sea.

Who has not heard of the Amber Trail? This route is a story about the sea and sun amber, which fascinated people since the Stone Age, becoming a ornament, amulet and medicine to meet people's aesthetic and spiritual needs. The Amber Trail is a place where focused the life of Central Europeans, recorded in legends, the landscape and treasures of the cities and towns, that had been developig for hundreds of years through permanent commercial and cultural contacts. The name brings to mind the tradition of traveling for Baltic gold and caravans of merchants seeking to reach the Young Europe through the mountain passes with little access and vast valleys of the most beautiful Middle European rivers.
"The guide was created with the participation of local coordinators of the trail" - says Malgorzata Fedas, coordinator of the Amber Trail Greenways in Poland. "We hope that it will help visitors form their own vision of the Amber Trail, its cultural and natural heritage, and above all, to know people who create this trail. We also hope that this publication will contribute to the spread of green trails, as well as for cultural and environment-friendly tourism"- she adds.The first part of thepublication presents the concept and objectives of the Amber Trail Greenways as a cultural heritage and eco-tourism destination . We familiarize readers with historical context and the history of the amber route, the greatest popularity of which was in Roman Empire times. We explain the concept of the Amber Road, which is the union of natural and cultural heritages - nature and culture.
The second part of the book is kind of a glance guide to the treasures of the Amber Trail cultural and natural heritage in Poland. In each of the six subsections we approach the main towns and attractions in the region, diversifying the text frames with interesting facts and descriptions of local curiosities and descriptions of local "amber" initiatives. The readers will find advice on transporation, addressed of tourist information points and details on visiting various attractions as well as major local festivals and fairs, and other useful travel tips. We have included the weekend trips ideas to each of the described sites of the Amber Trail Greenway.
